Sicom delivered multi-core dark fibre to 11 luxurious residential buildings across West London, plus the Management Suite. Legacy copper out. Gigabit dark fibre in. Ask4 took ownership of the network outright.
High-speed fibre lights up Heriot-Watt Galashiels campus
Heriot-Watt University partnered with Sicom to connect two key locations at the Galashiels campus — the Jean Muir Student Village and the High Mill building. The university chose a model that gives them complete ownership of the fibre, eliminating ongoing lease costs.
Ask4 choose SICOM to deliver dark fibre across 11 UK cities
Ask4 picked Sicom as its preferred dark fibre provider for sites in York, Bath, Southampton, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Lancaster, Falmouth, Sheffield, Nottingham, Cardiff and Birmingham. As the build progressed, Sicom rolled out Total Care fibre support via RADAR™ — every fibre in the network monitored every few seconds.
Focus Sensors choose SICOM for £1.49m OFWAT Dark Fibre 2 project
Sicom was appointed as dark-fibre specialists on a £1.49m project supported by the OFWAT Water Breakthrough Challenge, in partnership with Severn Trent Water, Welsh Water and Northumbrian Water. Focus Sensors’ IndusTM system turns standard telecommunications fibre into thousands of sensors that can locate water leaks along the route. Sicom’s role: provide the dark fibre in five test areas.
SICOM appointed as connectivity partner for Carbon-Z
Carbon-Z — a Swindon-based colocation provider and immersion-cooling specialist — engaged Sicom to improve carrier connectivity and provide additional multi-100Gb bandwidth options for prospective clients. Sicom surveyed every carrier and dark fibre route in the area and presented the options with costs.
Sicom’s data centre survey team evaluated a privately-owned location in the Midlands and found several carriers nearby that could be connected diversely at a cost of less than £100,000. The survey added many times that to the site’s sale value — prospective buyers now knew that four or five carriers were achievable.
SICOM provides infrastructure consultancy for GCRE
The Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) in South Wales — Europe’s premier site for rail innovation — engaged Sicom to research connectivity options to the government network, other data centres, the internet and Cloud Service Providers. Sicom recommended an Open Access Network Partnership. Openreach was contracted to provide diversely-routed multi-fibre cables between the site and two local exchanges, in preparation for the on-site modular data centre opening.
SICOM provides super-fast fibre for Ask4 students in Bournemouth
Three sites linked with around 3km of dark fibre, delivering gigabit connectivity to Ask4’s student residential network in Bournemouth. An earlier deployment in the Ask4 partnership that would later expand to 11 UK cities.
